Super Walmart Coming to Clovis

Fresno, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Super Walmart will be coming to Clovis, but the decision to allow it was a tough one.
Opponents heard a sour note in a supporter's musical pitch to bring in the super store at a city council meeting. Some people brought signs that read "keep Clovis safe" and argued the mega Walmart would drive out smaller businesses
Supporters said Clovis is big enough for another big box shop. "If you don't like Walmart, shop and target; and yes we can support two Wal-Marts. Soon we'll have two Winco's."
The city council approved an environmental impact report and agreed to rezone the land where the supercenter will be built at Herndon and Highway 168.
A Winco grocery store has also been proposed. It would be built just a few blocks away on Herndon at Peach Avenue.
